EPDM rubber roofing membrane is widely used in low-slope roofing. Its two primary ingredients, ethylene and propylene, are derived from oil and natural gas. EPDM can be installed either fully adhered, mechanically attached or ballasted, with the seams of the roofing system sealed with seam tape.
Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (M-class), or EPDM, is a synthetic rubber that is extremely durable and used across a variety of applications. EPDM is heat and weather resistant with its two main ingredients derived from natural gas and oil, making it an ideal flat roofing material. The M refers to its classification as part of ASTM standard D-1418. M-class specifically is related to rubbers possessing a saturated chain of the polymethylene type.
